Meet Jim — The Inventor of eZ klipZ

Jim, the inventor of eZ klipZ, is a proud dad, granddad, and great-granddad. Loving, forward-thinking, and always a happy-go-lucky dreamer and problem solver, Jim has a knack for turning everyday frustrations into clever solutions (and yes, Diet Coke is his well-known weakness!).

He created eZ klipZ to tackle a simple problem: finding a better, easier way to add light and character to any yard or home without causing damage or extra hassle. Now retired, Jim has happily passed the reins to his daughter and son-in-law, who proudly carry on the family business and grow the eZ klipZ legacy.

What inspired you to create eZ klipZ?
I’ve always loved having lights around the house, neatly lined up in crisp rows. But when it came to the fence, nothing worked well — tape was messy, other clips didn’t hold up, and I didn’t want to drill holes and use screws. I needed something better.

What problem were you trying to solve?
I wanted an easy way to hang lights in clean, straight rows along our long fence lines — and just as easily take them down. So I set out to design a clip that was durable, reusable, and would work with different styles of vinyl fencing. Quality was my top priority; I didn’t want to replace them every year.

What kind of lights do you like to hang?
At home, we keep clear globe lights up around our patio year-round, swapping them out with the seasons — orange and purple for Halloween, Christmas lights for the holidays. The original goal was Christmas lights, but now we use eZ klipZ for all sorts of lights throughout the year.

When did you realize eZ klipZ could help others too?
While I was fine-tuning the design, neighbors and passersby would often stop and ask how I secured the lights so neatly — and where they could get the clips. That’s when I knew it could be useful for others.

How long did it take to develop?
It took me a few years, countless prototypes, and lots of trial and error. I experimented with different types of lights — C5s, icicles, rope lights — and tested all sorts of plastics to find the right material. Back then, 3D printing was just getting started, but I managed to get CAD drawings and printed samples to share with manufacturers. After talking with companies across the country, I finally found a local partner who could produce the clips just the way I envisioned. There’s still more to come, but that’s how eZ klipZ got its start.

FAQ

Commonly Asked Questions

What type of fences do eZ klipZ work best on?

eZ klipZ were originally designed for vinyl fences, but they’ve been re-engineered to work with many types of fencing, including wood, chain link, privacy and railings.

Wherever you want to hang lights, eZ klipZ offer a secure, versatile solution without the need for tools or damage to your fence.

Will eZ klipZ damage my fence?

Absolutely not! eZ klipZ are specifically designed to make decorating easy without causing any damage. They grip securely without nails, screws, or adhesives, so your fence stays in perfect shape season after season.

Can eZ klipZ hold more than one or heavy light strands?

Yes! Each eZ klipZ is designed to hold up to three standard holiday light strands at once. That includes most mini lights, C6–C9 bulbs, and many commercial-grade strands.

For heavier or oversized lights, we recommend spacing clips a bit closer together to share the load evenly. eZ klipZ secure, flexible design keeps lights in place without tools or damage to your fence.

How do I pick the right size pack?

It depends on the length of your fence and how many light strands you want to hang. As a quick guide:

  • 25-pack: Great for small sections, front porches, gates, or accent lighting.
  • 50-pack: Ideal for short runs or partial fences.
  • 100-pack: Perfect for most average-size residential fences.
  • 200-pack: Best for large yards, full-perimeter lighting, or big projects.

What are eZ klipZ made of?

eZ klipZ are proudly made in America from durable, UV-resistant polypropylene. Built to handle sun, rain, and freezing temperatures, they won’t crack or break like cheap alternatives.

They’re designed for reliable, long-lasting use. That way you can create beautiful displays season after season with confidence.
